Day 11 - Jan 11

Hello!!

The low energy/headaches etc are completely normal....your body is detoxing!

Stay strong and you will come through it....all of sudden you will notice that you don't crash at 3pm, that its easier to get out of bed etc. It's worth the wait!!

  2. Well I am not sure if my headache is from detox or just from shopping and trying to find meats that do not have SUGAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    I did my P90X this morning and now going to go for a swim. I hope I dont sink!
    Meal #1
    As per your suggestion I had 2 whole egss with sauteed spinach and zucchini ( hmm sound familiar)
    snacks dates figs and hard boiled eggs 2
    meal#2
    chicken from my stir fry but I didnt have the veggies I just had it with salsa
    Meal#3
    YUMMY YUMMY turkey burgers with cranberries (no bun of course just head lettuce as my bun)
    1/2 avocado
    salsa
    green salad
    lara bar
    Weird I felt better on day 8 then I do today...,really tired I REALLY dont want to go swimming but it has to be done!

  3. I have a confession to make...well more like a discovery...

    I was just doing some research on meat from our butcher, and realized that the ham we normally buy has brown sugar in it. I am very sad. And annoyed. Matt is angry (haha)

    I don't know how we let this happen...we knew that it was nitrite & gluten free, and didn't dig far enough to see the list of ingredients.

    So - we have both eaten this during this Whole 30. We know that the quality of the meat is good, and that the amount of sugar in it is negligible, but we technically broke the rules.

    So for the sake of this blog we will continue on with today being Day 11 - but we know that we are actually back at day 0, and we will do our best to make it clean for 30 days from now!

    1. Too funny! I was really beginning to lose my mind today! I hunted everywhere, local butcher organic world and costco and superstore .... I have a question though, I thought I read somewhere on the Whole9 sight that pork should not be eaten and to eat beef or bison ect. Did I read that wrong..something about the fact that pigs do not eat well.
      Oh well, tomorrow I am going to roast a turkey breast and hope to have turkey for few days.
      I guess my bitching about not being able to find ham with no sugar was what cause your discovery?

  5. Dead Tired today feel worst taking rest days and not working whats with this.....

    Egg in a meat cup broiled tomatoes.

  6. 1. two scrambled eggs, a couple small pieces of flank steak, half an orange

    2. 1/4 cup almonds

    3. salad with spinach, tomato, celery, carrots, and one piece of cut up flank steak. Sweet potato soup that I made.

    4. piece of smoked salmon

    I went to a hot yoga class tonight. It was pretty good but when I got home, I had no desire to eat any form of meat/protein whatsoever.

    5. Waldorf salad. Made with paleo mayo, lemon juice, half an apple, 1/3 cup of walnuts, celery and romaine lettuce. It seems to be satisfying my need for crunch.

    With regards to pork, I would keep in mind that the Whole9 website is a US based company. The standards for pork are VERY different in the US than they are in Canada. I need to do a bit more research, but from what I understand, pork products from BC are high quality/safe to eat/basically always organic. A girlfriend of mine will only eat organic meats and if we go out for dinner and it doesn't specify "organic" with beef or poultry, she won't order it. However, with pork, she has no problem ordering it. Maybe someone else is more educated in this area...?

  7. Yes, we blew it! We made an honest mistake! But rest assured the producer of the ham we buy is local, uses no nitrites or nitrates, no wheat gluten, no msg or any other chemical preservatives! If it wasn't for the added brown sugar it would be a quality protein choice.

    Lory, the whole9 isn't telling us to avoid pork all together, they're telling us to avoid commercially raised pork. There are plenty of local free range pork products available like pork chops, pork butt(shoulder) which is amazing for pulled pork. While it may not be as high quality a choice as grass fed beef or lamb, it is certainly a better choice than commercially raised meat that is fed a grain based diet.

    1. Thanks Matt, so now I just have to find a butter that has local free range pork. Ours did not. So I will check out organic world in Maple Ridge for some pork chops. So I can have some "Pork chops an apple sauce" yum.
      Never made pulled pork before may have to give that a try in mid Feb!
      Thanks again for clearing up the pork issue.

  9. Actually Claudia...
    Well, the Chumpys (aka Kurt and Claudia) definitely have the munchies for some sweets! What else is new! We both feel better though, resisting temptations at work daily (ie. coworker offered to get me a Starbucks Americano Misto with Hazlenut -she said "no one will know" - I resisted...) Feeling less puffy and more energetic, however those darn cravings...

    Chumpys ate today...
    Meal 1: two chicken blueberry patties and black coffee
    Snack: Apple and handful of raisins
    Meal 2: mashed yams and baked halibut
    Snack: celery sticks and almond butter
    Meal 3: sautted shrimp in cococunt oil over romaine lettucs and half avocado
    Snack: handful of grapes
