  1. I am proud of all the "small victories" I've had this past month (bringing my own snacks to hockey games, not eating the "crap" at birthday parties...). Every time I was able to not cave, I felt my confidence increase.

My clothes are fitting better, my body feels firmer. The numbers don't lie people!

    -2cm bicep circ.
    -5cm hips
    -5cm waist
    -4cm chest
    -5cm thigh circ.

I haven't had a chance to weigh myself yet (I don't have a scale). I have to go to back and use my cousin's scale again.

I have CONSTANT energy throughout the day, both physically, and mentally. I don't have any huge crashes or spikes. I feel very level throughout the day. I notice that I'm not irritable (this has been an issue for me in the past). I also recognize that I'm not turning to food for all situations. In fact, I'm not even thinking about it most of the time.

One of my biggest challenges was finding time to plan meals, grocery shop and prepare meals. At first, this was really tough to do, but by the end, it has honestly simplified things so much. My grocery shopping trips are more efficient because I know exactly what I need and where to find it. Now that I have a collection (and some practice) of recipes making my meals doesn't take as long either (I just wish I had a dishwasher instead of having to wash everything by hand). Also I've found that my grocery costs have increased. I'm not using this as an excuse, just as an observation and something I will need to get used to (consider it an investment in my future health).

I'm excited to continue to try new meals and new ideas. I'm excited to be able to "indulge" once in a while and really ENJOY those little treats :) I'm excited to have really good chocolate (I can't bring myself to just yet, it just seems wrong haha).

My plan is to continue to eat clean on a regular basis and to continue to practice "mindful eating". I don't plan on reintroducing dairy or wheat/gluten into my regular meals, but I will probably go back to eating some beans and legumes.

I learned that I can make delicious meals (I thought it would get boring but not even close) using only Whole30 approved foods and that nuts and fruit taste so good! :) I can't wait to see how I feel after more time keeping these principles in mind.

  3. This is Claudia...

Although "Whole 30" has finished, however, healthy/quality eating will continue. Like Kirsten said "mindful" eating will be our philosophy as well. At the start of this, we did both weigh ourselves and something has happenned to our scale, so we don't really know if we in fact "lost" weight. However, the scale is not a real way of measuring one's progress. We both feel better in terms of energy and the way our clothes fit, so inches were lost. Unlike the first time we did Whole 30, this time around our "urge" for treats and certain foods has significantly diminished. I literally have no urge to eat wine gums or gummies anymore - this is BIG FOR ME!

Both of us still need to work on incorporating regular exercise and better sleep patterns into our lives. These two things are quite challenging given our work schedules, kids etc. However, we can work on these two areas and can only imagine how better our results will further be...The issue of emotional eating is a yet another area of work for us too. Transforming one's way of eating/living is huge, and even more of an uphill battle when one is surrounded by constant pressures/vices (eg. starbucks everywhere, social functions)... I think we all have achieved much, and I am sure we will not revert back to some of our bad habits...

Jenny, thanks for pushing us and for keeping us all motivated! Should Lulu business go under, I think the Marine Corps will hire you on the spot!!
